It would have been customary to give a detailed description of the person I am from this first newsletter, but I opted for something a little more different... revealing little secrets of my own to draw you in, a ever so slightly, in my little hidden garden. So open your eyes wide… today I’m taking you to discover… My Origins.
Originally from Andalusia
My maternal grandparents are Spanish. Originally from Andalusia, they arrived in France in the middle of the 20th century. They never forgot their native country of which they spoke, in each anecdote, with stars in their eyes. Parents of 5 children, destiny led them to Nuits-Saint-Georges, a small town in Burgundy, where my mother, Elisa, was born, then me, Laëtitia, in the 80s (You really thought I was going to reveal to you my age?)
Love of the “earth”
When I was little, I spent a lot of time with them, I would even say a lot, a lot, since I went there regularly during non-school days. My grandfather, or rather my "papou", as I liked to call him, was a lover of nature and more precisely of his garden where he spent most of his days. He was the first to pass on this love for the earth to me.
When the school year ended, we immediately flew to Elche, near Alicante (Spain) where my ancestors had kept a small family apartment.
The Spanish atmosphere
I remember the Spanish atmosphere that reigned in the city, the sweet smells of paella, the laughter on the street corners after the siesta, the flamenco dresses that flew in the air during Saints' Day... and the Palm groves that make the region famous. On this subject, I advise you to take a look at El Huerto del Cura (link here: https://www.visitelche.com/fr/patrimonios-de-la-humanidad/palmeral-de-elche/ jardin-huerto-del-cura/ ), in French, The priest's garden. I spent many afternoons there, in the shade of the palm trees. The warm colors of the mosaics and the ocher of the earth of the plantations still accompany me every day and inspire a certain number of my creations, particularly those which display terracotta colors.
I therefore invite you to go see my Cadix cup: https://laetitia-fauchere.com/products/tasse-a-cafe
or my terracotta plate: https://laetitia-fauchere.com/products/assiette-terracotta
These are some of my pieces inspired by these origins to which I am very attached and of which I have just revealed some facets to you.
